When will fall really arrive?

By MIKE HERNDANDEZNews 4 San AntonioSAN ANTONIO - Wednesday is the first day of fall, and it makes you feel cooler just saying it. {}But if you stepped outside, you know it still feels like summer. So when will you be feeling the fall? The equinox happens when the equator passes the center of the sun. This is when the north and south poles of the Earth are not tilted towards or away from the sun, as at other times. They are aligned so as to give, theoretically, the same amount of daylight in both of the Earth's hemispheres. After the autumnal equinox, the days get shorter and the nights get longer. The National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration released its 3-month outlook for fall. They are calling for above normal rainfall and below normal temperatures. So it's expected to be cooler and wetter over the next three months. High and lows on average will start to drop.{} In October, expect highs to be in the 80s and dropping to the middle 60s by December.
