Randy Beamer is the Emmy Award-winning weekday 5, 6, 6:30 & 10 p.m. co-anchor and a photojournalist for News 4 San Antonio.
He still loves to grab his camera and shoot his own stories as often as possible. Beamer has shot and reported for News 4 San Antonio from all over the country and even around the world, focusing on all kinds of stories involving -- and important to -- South Texans.
In Iraq, he added a bulletproof vest to his gear for a series and documentary which he reported, shot and put together on San Antonians who run the biggest hospital in Iraq. He's reported on Texans guarding detainees at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and helping in relief efforts after the tsunami in Sri Lanka and a hurricane that devastated Honduras.
He flew with a medical team into hurricane-ravaged New Orleans, reported from Galveston on Hurricane Ike, from Houston on Hurricane Harvey and has gone deep into Mexico to look at exactly what drives so many people to cross illegally into the U.S.
Beamer also covered the the Sutherland Springs Church shooting, and the Santa Fe High School Shooting.
He also volunteers as a popular speaker and emcee at dozens of community fundraisers.
Randy Beamer was a National Merit Scholar at Drake University and briefly attended the USC Film School in L.A. He's won nine Emmy Awards, an Edward R. Murrow Award, top honors from the Texas Associated Press Broadcasters and many other awards over the years for reporting, anchoring, photography and commentary.
But he's most proud of his four wonderful children.
Check out his facebook page - where he posts a whole bunch of photos he takes all over San Antonio and South Texas.
He's also on twitter.
