We recently reported that San Antonio Spurs assistant coach Ettore Messina was being targeted by Euroleague team Milan for their head coaching job.

Now it appears Messina has now taken a meeting with Milan to discuss what role he could serve with the organization whether as head coach or in management.

Via Eurohoops:

Eurohoops sources have confirmed that Messina is negotiating directly with the Armani family and it’s unclear at the moment in which capacity he may join the team.
However, it’s more than possible that even if he is involved in the basketball operations as part of the management, he will also be the head coach in case of an agreement between the two sides.

Messina's current contract with the Spurs expires this summer.

Messina has been with the Spurs since 2014. Prior to joining the Spurs, Messina had a stellar career overseas. He is a four-time Euroleague champion, a two-time Euroleague Coach of the Year and a four-time Italian League champion.

He could also just be doing his due diligence to see what option are out there if the Spurs do not re-sign him as well.

This offseason, the Spurs have seen Ime Udoka leave the bench to join the Sixers as their first-assistant coach to Brett Brown.
