Report: Clippers planning to offer trade package for Kawhi Leonard if available
The San Antonio Spurs are still dealing with life without star forward Kawhi Leonard and his return to the floor is unlikely to happen with each passing day.
Leonard who is still listed as dealing with a right quadriceps injury has played only nine games this past regular-season and if those games were indeed his last in a Spurs jersey, the Clippers are ready to pounce and make San Antonio a trade offer.
Via USA Today:
Consider the Los Angeles Clippers one of the many teams keeping tabs on the situation. The Clippers are planning a trade package if Leonard ultimately becomes available, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.
Considering the Spurs forward is from California, making his way back home with the Clippers makes sense if he wants out of the Alamo City.
In addition, the Clippers do have draft picks and young players to offer the Spurs, should Kawhi request a trade in the offseason.
He does have one more season under contract with San Antonio and it is expected the team will offer him the "Super Max" deal worth $219 million in the offseason.
But will the Spurs want to trade him to a West team where they'll have to face him multiple times in the season or in the postseason?
It has been a strange season for the Spurs and Leonard and its only getting stranger.
