SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Nick Hernandez has put together quite the resume at Reagan High School.
The senior kicker/punter made all but one of his 55 PATs this season, while also knocking down all but one field goal attempt. In a normal year he would be visiting college campuses right now, but during the pandemic that is difficult to do.
"With in-person recruiting basically vanished this entire year it’s made the process difficult to navigate and uncertain for HS seniors. But with Nick’s resume I’m confident he will have multiple offers over the coming weeks. With a solid upcoming HEB All-Star Game performance he should be in line to have a big announcement coming real soon," Kicking World owner and coach Brent Grablachoff said.
This was most on display last month when Hernandez was perfect through 60 yards beating out dozens of some of the country's best kickers or the "Golden Boot" award at the invite-only Kicking World National Showcase.
Less than 48 hours after the showcase, Hernandez picked up an offer to be a preferred walk-on at Incarnate Word. He had an outstanding senior season with the Rattlers too, capped off with a unanimous first team all-district selection and an invitation to the San Antonio Sports All-Star football game.
Grablachoff adds once college programs get a better grip on scholarship allocations based on who is coming back next season, we can expect to see even more interest in Hernandez as he continues to seek out opportunities to play college football.
