SAN ANTONIO - I want to send our prayers and well wishes to the family of Joe Finger, who passed away last weekend and was laid to rest on Sunday.

I've been covering the Spurs for 28 seasons, and Joe had me beat by a decade.

Joe was a mainstay for 37 seasons.

He was a valued member of the Spurs stats crew - the guys who sit at the scorers table, who run the clock, the shot clock and keep track of all the fouls and stats.

He had a warm, friendly nature, and was loved by his clients at his State Farm Insurance Agency, and his customers at the Country Mart in D'Hanis where you can still buy Fat Joe's Jerky. Joe reminded me of my grandfather. A diligent worker and a quiet, humble spirit. He always had a smile and a kind word.

Joe Finger left us way too soon at the age of 70, and he will be missed.
