Could a former Spur be coming back?

According to ESPN, the San Antonio Spurs were interested in former guard Marco Belinelli prior to the NBA trade deadline.

Before Thursday's deadline, the Philadelphia 76ers, San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder were among teams believed to be interested in trading for him, league sources said. Those teams do have roster spots available to sign a free agent.
Free agents need to be bought out of contracts before March 1 to be eligible for playoff rosters.

Marco will likely be bought out by the Hawks and should the Spurs bring him back via the buyout market, they'll be reuniting with a player who has the team's "corporate knowledge" and can knock down the 3-point shot.

With Atlanta, Belinelli has averaged 11.4 points per game.

Bringing back Belinelli would be seamless as he has familiarity with some players on the roster and Head Coach Gregg Popovich's playbook. His size for a guard, and shooting ability would be helpful for a team that has seen struggles on the offensive end this season.

In two season with the Spurs, he averaged 10 points and shot 40% from the 3-point line and 46% from the field. He was also a part of the team's 2014 title team.
