No time to panic says Tony Parker

The San Antonio Spurs free fall from the West playoff race continues, as they have dropped out of the postseason picture after a blowout loss to the Rockets. The Spurs find themselves in the 10th spot in the West and also find themselves in unfamiliar territory for the first time in two decades on the outside looking in.

However, the team isn't ready to make early summer vacation plans nor slam their collective finger on the panic button quite yet.

With 15 games left on their regular-season slate, and a difficult end-of-season schedule still ahead of them, Tony Parker is ready to continue the fight and not hit the proverbial panic button.

“No," said Parker when asked if there's reason to panic about their playoff chances. "We just have to keep fighting, fighting and keep fighting."

The Spurs are on a 3-game skid after playing the West's best - Warriors, Thunder, Rockets -on the road. Three teams they'll likely have to face should the postseason be in their future.

But a lengthy home-stand starting against the lowly Magic may help turn their playoff fortunes around.

"I think it’s been a tough stretch playing three very good teams," said Parker. "So now, we just have to regroup and we have a home stand with six at home and try to win as much as we can."

Help may be on the way if reports are true star forward Kawhi Leonard is set to make his return this week. His presence on both ends of the floor as well as the confidence boost he'll inject into the team could come at the right time.

But will it be too little, too late for San Antonio remains to be seen.

"We have to dig in and have trust in each other and go out there and compete and make sure we take care at home the next few games we have," said Pau Gasol.

At this point any help will do to ensure the Spurs' playoff hopes are kept alive and their string of postseason appearances continues.

Said Parker, "We need to get it going, get our confidence back and make sure we do everything we can to not slip and miss an opportunity to make the playoffs again.”
