Alliance of American Football league announces details about San Antonio franchise

Alliance of American Football league announces details about San Antonio franchise (SBG San Antonio)

UPDATE: The Alliance of American Football introduced Mike Riley as the Head Coach of the Alliance San Antonio team; Former Dallas Cowboys great Daryl Johnston will serve as General Manager.

The Alliance of American Football league is coming to San Antonio next February, and before you start saying "here we go again" check out some of the names associated with this league.

Hines Ward, Troy Polamalu, Mike Singletary, Michael Vick, Justin Tuck and more. Some will coach, some will be executives, but the San Antonio franchise will announce particulars at a press conference Thursday.

The AAF announced details about the franchise during a news conference Thursday.

The Alliance of American Football will have 8 teams, and of those cities, only Atlanta and Phoenix have NFLD franchises. They're trying to have a regional draft. And since San Antonio will be the only team in Texas, imagine how many solid football players they could get from our state that aren't playing in the NFL right now.

Sirius XM radio is reporting that former Cowboy great Darryl Johnston will run the team here, and San Antonio's "first ever" Canadian Football League Head Coach Mike Riley will be the head coach. That makes sense, because Coach Riley, once he left here to go to USC, the San Diego Chargers, Oregon State and Nebraska, always had a house in the area. And in 2012, he told us he was building a house in Gruene.

This new league also already has a television deal, so more credibility there too.
