SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio Spurs' Becky Hammon is reportedly in the running for a few vacant NBA head coaching spots and Boston is doing their part to make sure she lands with the Celtics.

A billboard has gone up in Boston urging Brad Stevens (President of Basketball Operations) to hire the Spurs assistant coach or Duke's Kara Lawson.

According to a recent report, the Portland Trail Blazers, and Orlando Magic have Hammon among their list of coaching candidates. Boston was not among the teams listed but she has been mentioned as a possible candidate with Boston media.

Wherever she lands (either in San Antonio or elsewhere) it will be historic.

Hammon has been with the Spurs since 2014. She's now the first assistant coach to Gregg Popovich and many peg her as the head coach heir-apparent in San Antonio.

She made history by becoming the first female to coach an NBA team on December 30, 2020. Popovich was ejected in the second quarter and she assumed the head coaching role.

She became the first-ever female head coach in the NBA's Summer League in 2015, and become the first female NBA head coach to win a Summer League title. In addition, she was interviewed for the Bucks coaching spot in 2017.

Hammon has paid her dues and is primed to lead a team soon.
