How to quickly check a doctor's license

If you or a family member is going to see a new doctor you can quickly check their license on the Texas Medical Board database. You don't even need their license number.

With just the name, and the town where they practice, you can look up any physician as well as many other categories of medical providers.

The database shows how long they've been licensed, where they went to school, even information about malpractice claims. It will also tell you of any disciplinary actions associated with their license.

It's one of the first things the News 4 Trouble Shooters check when doing stories involving doctors and it can give you some peace of mind before visiting a new doctor.
