Federal grant could lead to high-tech jobs in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO -- A big opportunity for some unemployed and underemployed in the San Antonio area thanks to a $2 million dollar grant from the U.S. Department of Labor.

It is being used to fund a partnership between the Alamo Colleges and local tech firm Codeup.

Those that apply and qualify can receive up to $3500 that would pay for an 18 week software development course.

One of those already taking advantage of the opportunity in the first Codeup class is Nestor Salinas. He had been working as a bartender but decided he wanted to change careers.
