Dying man's last wish: 'Adopt my dog'
FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) —
Rowdy is a 10-year-old beagle mix. She's been coming to Woodward dog park for years. Now her owner is dying from cancer and he desperately wants someone to adopt his dog.
That's a very good girl, very good girl, very good girl.
Rowdy and her owner Harold have been a fixture on this playground for the past eight years. Recently, Harold stopped coming after friend Mona Ahmed says he was diagnosed with esophagus cancer that has spread to his liver and lungs.
He asked her for a favor.
"Find my baby a home -- and he started crying and I started crying and he said take it to a shelter," Ahmed said. "I said there's no way."
Ahmed, who has temporary custody of Rowdy, doesn't believe he would do well in a small pen as opposed to a home situation. She's hoping someone will be willing to adopt Rowdy.
"I would like to do a home check to see that Rowdy goes to the right home because I want to make sure about the fence and it will be good if somebody has another dog," Ahmed said. "She's 10 but she still plays like she's five."
She's a happy go lucky 10-year-old who misses her owner but is ready to take orders from a new caring dog lover.
