Florida cashier used customer cash to buy lottery tickets, sheriff says
HUDSON, Fla. (WPEC) — A woman is facing fraud charges after deputies said she used cash from customers to buy lottery tickets.
According to the sheriff's office in Pasco County, Florida, 27-year-old Theresa Ann Morrow worked as a cashier at a store in the town of Hudson. The victim said Morrow voided items at the register and use the money for scratch-off lottery tickets.
Investigators said Morrow voided more than $1,200 in store merchandise.
Morrow told investigators she was going through a lot and it started when a customer bought some lottery tickets and gave them to her. She said she "began an addiction" to scratch-off tickets. Morrow believed she voided only $500 to 600 worth of items, according to the Pasco Sheriff's Office.
Morrow is facing a charge of obtain property by fraud under $20,000.
