WACH FOX received several tips from viewers about a video of a student taunting and assaulting a teacher while standing on top of a desk at Calhoun County High School.
We reached out to the district Tuesday when the incident happened and they released the following statement on Wednesday.
"The Calhoun County School District is currently working with local law enforcement agencies involving the situation that occurred at Calhoun County High School on December 3, 2018. The student involved in this incident has been suspended and recommended for expulsion in accordance with board policy. The faculty member involved has been placed on Administrative Leave. At this time we know that the student has been suspended and the teacher was placed on administrative leave. The student has also been charged with simple assault and public disorderly conduct, according to the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office.
In the video the female student can be seen standing on the desk and kicking toward the teacher's head before pretending to slap him.
The teacher stands up and tries to move, however the student then began to push and shove him before stomping on the desk.
The teacher can be heard saying "get off the desk before you get written up" as the student continued to stomp atop the desk.
