Woman shoots ex-boyfriend in chest as he tries to break into her home

SAN ANTONIO — A man in his 20's is in the hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest after he tried to break into his ex-girlfriends home early Sunday.

According to police on scene, the woman was home in the 800 block of Kirk Place when she heard someone trying to break in the back window around 2:00 a.m.

The woman told police she grabbed her gun and stuck it outside the window.

The man trying to break in, now identified only as her ex-boyfriend, tried to take the gun from her but she shot him before he could.

He was taken to the hospital in serious condition after the shooting. The investigation is ongoing.
