Volunteers to attempt building largest blanket fort to support autism
A group here in San Antonio is working to break the Guinness World Record for the largest blanket fort -- and it's all for a good cause.
Volunteers helped the Autism Treatment Center collect and organize blankets Saturday for an event called Autism Uncovered.
Volunteers will attempt to build the blanket fort Nov. 19 at Toyota Field.
The group hopes to bring awareness to a condition they said is impacting more and more children.
"We have a huge need for more autism services - education, therapy, diagnostics, all sorts of programs - so we're trying to raise awareness and bring the community together around this issue," said Cynthia Hamilton, with the Autism Treatment Center.
All Starbucks between San Antonio and Kyle will collect blankets starting Monday. There will also be 40 additional blanket collection boxes around town. Head to Autism Uncovered for more information.
