Austin Police officers attended a one of a kind graduation ceremony Friday for a very special High School Student.
Mati Abdul-Khaliq, son of fallen APD Amir Abdul-Khaliq, graduated from McNeil High School Friday morning.
During the event, APD Chief Brian Manley tweeted an emotional video of the encounter.
Officer Abdul-Khaliq, age 46, died in September of 2016. The officer died days after getting hit by a car while escorting a funeral procession on a motorcycle.
As seen in the video, several officers attended the ceremony. The graduate thanked the department with a warm hug.
