It could be a big win for USAA and for the city of San Antonio, as the corporate giant plans to add more than a thousand jobs locally and move thousands of jobs downtown. San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg says the financial and insurance company plans to bring 15-hundred new jobs to San Antonio. “This is one of the largest economic development wins for the city in recent memory.”

Nirenberg says those new jobs, and the USAA plans to move 2-thousand of its employees to downtown locations, is good news for everyone. “This has a residual effect of making San Antonio a strong investment for the future and that benefits every San Antonian,” says Nirenberg.

The city council is looking at two incentive packages to support these plans. The 6-million dollars of incentives would help expand a parking garage and improve two buildings. Mayor Nirenberg says, “We do so very judiciously and we make sure they are bringing high wage jobs so we can grow the employment sectors of San Antonio.”

San Antonio City Council will vote on the incentives next week. The Mayor anticipates they will be approved.
