U.S. Marshals still searching for man accused of stabbing ex-wife 30 times
Authorities are searching for Rene Jimenes, 37, after an incident with his ex-wife in 2016.
"Jimenez had approached his wife in Manor and displayed a weapon and made some references to killing her," said Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal Hector Gomez.
Jimenes was arrested and was out on bond with a GPS ankle monitor. But just months later in March 2016, authorities say Jimenes followed his ex-wife home from the gym.
"He came up to her and commenced to stab her, and stabbed her in excess of 30 times resulting in stab wounds to her body as well as punctures to her lungs," said Gomez.
Witnesses say they saw Jimenes leaving the scene and officers later found his ankle monitor cut off. He's been missing ever since.
"Stabbing her in excess of 30 times, I believe in his mind he had every intention of killing her that evening," said Gomez.
U.S. Marshals believe Jimenes is somewhere in the Austin area and they know his victim is in danger until he's found.
"Is he going to be the next car that follows her into a driveway or a convenience store?" asked Gomez.
Jimenes is 5'8 and weighs 200 pounds. If you have any information on his whereabouts, call the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force at 512-800-4213.
