Bexar County District Attorney Nico LaHood tells us that the suspect in the 2012 shooting of a man near the University of Texas at San Antonio has been indicted.

Randall Perkins was shot and killed during a party at the Aspen Heights apartments, now The Estates at San Antonio, off Hausman in March 2012. Although police made an arrest shortly after, then district attorney Susan Reed dropped the charges in 2014 because of a lack of witnesses.

The same suspect, 27-year-old Leandre Vonzell Hill, has now been indicted by a grand jury.

Police said he fired into a group of people at a party near UTSA and wasn't necessarily aiming at Perkins, but it was Perkins who was killed. Since his death, Perkins' parents have offered a $50,000 reward for answers with Crime Stoppers offering another $5,000.

"We identified, our office identified witnesses that were not spoken to -- and so we went through the process of furthering that investigation and presented new evidence to a different grand jury, and they came back with a true bill indictment," LaHood said.

Perkins was a 2010 graduate of Smithson Valley High School where he played football, lacrosse, and ran track.
