Southwest border migration numbers down 18 percent in June


    According to new numbers from the Department of Homeland Security, Southwest border migration numbers decreased by 18 percent in June.

    Border Patrol agents rescued 896 people in May and June compared to 621 rescues during those months in 2017, according to a news release. In June, more than 34,000 people were detained between all of the ports of entry along the Southwest border, compared to more than 40,000 in May and more than 38,000 in April.


    In June, 8,451 people who went through the Southwest border ports of entries were deemed inadmissible. This is compared to the 11,567 in May and 12,680 in April.
