ROCKPORT, Texas -- Schools in the towns of Rockport and Fulton have been closed indefinitely.
Aransas County ISD Superintendent Joseph Patek made the announcement Wednesday afternoon.
A post on the district's Facebook page states the decision was made after district officials received a formal damage assessment.
The district is encouraging parents and guardians of Aransas ISD students to enroll their children where they are staying or where they have family. The post stated that "All students displaced by this disaster will be accepted at other districts in Texas and ACISD will do everything we can to make sure records are sent." The district also said that Aransas ISD students are now eligible for homeless services, including free lunches.
The district stated it's their plan to "get our campuses up and running as soon as possible. "
