The approval means voters will choose if they want to eliminate low-level marijuana enforcement. If at least 60 percent approve, this would end citations and arrests for misdemeanor possession and ban police officers from using the smell of marijuana as probable cause for search or seizure.
According to the San Marcos police chief, anything under four ounces is a misdemeanor.
Election day is on November 8th.
