San Antonio officer shoots, kills 18-year-old man during confrontation, says chief
UPDATE at 2:45 p.m.: Police Chief William McManus said officials were called to the house on Roberts Street early Wednesday morning after a person was punched in the face.
An officer showed up to the house and called for backup because it is widely known as a "drug house." Police have been called 50 times to the address since Jan. 1, McManus said.
A 24-year-old suspect reached for his pistol and the officer fired a round that went through him and struck Charles Roundtree, 18, who was sitting on the couch. Roundtree was pronounced dead by the Bexar County Medical Examiner. The suspect was taken to the hospital and is expected to face charges.
McManus said drugs were found in the house.
"It was a very unfortunate tragic incident," McManus said.
The officer, a 5-year veteran of the agency, was placed on administrative duty.
