San Antonio boy behind University Hospital's 'cancer bell' dies

The local boy that inspired other children battling cancer to keep fighting has passed away.

Damon Billeck, 13, lost his arm while battling bone cancer. He set out to get a bell that other young cancer patients can ring when they finish chemotherapy. When cancer is in remission, he wanted the sound of the bell to inspire hope in other sick kids. The San Antonio Fire Department helped him out and found a bell that was once part of an old fire truck. It was then repurposed to be a "cancer bell" at University Hospital.

Damon lost his battle with cancer on Tuesday.
