Ron Nirenberg sworn in as mayor of San Antonio
SAN ANTONIO-The city of San Antonio now has a new mayor. Ron Nirenberg was sworn in Thursday afternoon.
After a runoff election with incumbent Ivy Taylor, Ron Nirenberg officially became mayor of San Antonio Wednesday afternoon. This after he spent his morning assisting city crews on repairing a pot hole
"A reminder that in order to be a great city, San Antonian’s expect their basics to be excellent and we certainly strive to do that and filling potholes is at that the very foundation of quality of life in San Antonio,” said Mayor Ron Nirenberg.
Then pulling up to, and slowly moving in to his new office at city hall.
"Not like moving into college, there is a lot of work to do, so walking into an empty office is, probably the cleanest I will see it so long as I am there,” said Nirenburg.
The mayor says his focus on improving and updating the city's transportation is an immediate priority as well as job creation. He says getting to know his new council members and forming a unified vision will help in achieving these goals.
"These big challenges that we face as a community, a growing dynamic community, haven't gone away, they need to be addressed and they need to be addressed because we can, we have the tools and resources to do so,” said Nirenburg.
