Man found fatally shot in front of convenience store near downtown

SAN ANTONIO - Police are investigating what led to a man's shooting death that happened West of downtown Thursday morning.

Police got a call just before 7 a.m. for a man down in the 2400 block of Chihuahua St. near S. Hamilton Ave.

When officers arrived, a man in his early 20s was found with a single gunshot wound to his upper torso. San Antonio police Chief William McManus said drug activity is known to happen in the area, but it's not known if that's what led to the shooting. It's also not known if the man was shot at the location he was found or if it happened in another area.

Officers have classified it as a murder investigation.
