Officers are investigating what led to a woman's death after her body was found in a parking lot downtown Sunday morning.

She was found at the intersection of W. Travis Street and N. Flores Street at about 11 a.m. Police believe the woman's death is a homicide as she was found with multiple blunt force injuries to her body. However, the cause of her death is still under investigation.

Chief William McManus said blood trail led from a nearby VIA bus stop bench to where the woman's body was found. The woman is not identified at this time, but was described as a potentially homeless, white female.

No weapon has been recovered at this time. The investigation remains ongoing.
