Park police shoot, kill man after being fired upon downtown
SAN ANTONIO - Police are investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting.
It happened around 1 a.m. when park officers shot and killed a man along East Commerce Downtown.
Police were called out for a man with a gun along Commerce and Navarro. When they approached the man, he became very agitated and aggressive. That's when one of the officers used a taser which did not seem to have any effect on the man.
That's when, according to park police, the man in his 20s pulled out a gun and fired one shot. Both officers then opened fire. The man was shot a number of times and died at the scene.
One of the officers is a 17-year veteran, while the other is a one-year vet. Both will be placed on administrative duty, which is standard procedure after any officer-involved shooting.
