SAN ANTONIO - Overnight storms caused the roof to collapse and a pipe to burst at a downtown church.
The incident happened just before 12:30 a.m. Friday at the Travis Park United Methodist Church on East Travis and Navarro.
Heavy rains caused the first and second floor to cave, as well as a pipe to burst inside the church. San Antonio Water System crews were called out to shut the water off.
Luckily, nobody was inside the building when this all happened.
“We are hoping that the sanctuary was mostly spared there’s a lot of wet carpet in there and we need to see about the organ but pretty much every where else has pretty significant water damage,” said Eric Vogt, senior pastor at Travis Park Church.
So far, there is no estimate on all the damages or if the church can even have Sunday services here.
