SAN ANTONIO — One man is dead after he attempted to steal beer from a Nooner's convenience store at Potranco and Talley Roads on the far West Side around 1 a.m. Saturday.
Shawn Sorola, 18, Kathleen Mendiola, 17, and a third 19-year-old man carried out the beer run when store clerks chased the suspects and confronted them in front of the store. The three suspects got into an argument with the store clerks and Sorola and the 19-year-old were stabbed during the dispute.
The altercation ended after a witness with a concealed handgun license pulled out a gun during the argument.
Bexar County Sheriff's Office said Sorola and Mendiola drove off in a car that was stopped by deputies later in the night and left the 19-year-old man, who later died, in the parking lot.
When Sheriffs arrived at the convenience store they found the suspect that was left behind with a severe knife wound to his leg, he died at University Hospital.
Sorola and Mendiola are facing charges of robbery and the clerks are not facing charges at this time.
