New Braunfels elementary school briefly shut down following reported shooting nearby
NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas -- Authorities say a New Braunfels elementary school was briefly shut down Wednesday for reports of a shooting nearby.
Authorities were called to Ruckle Road and Morningside Drive for reports of shots fired in the area. Officers at the scene heard several gunshots, so they notified residents in the area to stay inside their homes until an all-car was given. Bus traffic from Morningside Elementary School was re-rerouted as a result.
Three men -- 18, 19 and 21 years old -- were found in the brush by a Texas DPS helicopter. Investigators believe the men were just recklessly discharging their weapons and not shooting to harm anyone. . The suspects were taken to the Comal County Jail where they face criminal charges for the reckless discharge of firearms. Authorities said no one was injured in the incident.
Officials gave an all-clear and most routes have resumed normal traffic except for a portion of Rueckle Road.
