More than $17 million worth of cocaine found in boxes of donated bananas
BRAZORIA COUNTY, Texas -- The Texas Department of Criminal Justice took to Twitter on Friday to show a large drug shipment that was concealed in boxes of donated bananas.
TDCJ said two sergeants from the Wayne Scott Unit, southwest of Houston, discovered a white powder in the boxes in Freeport. Tests revealed that the powder was cocaine.
The 540 bundles were estimated at about $17,820,000.
