Man shot didn't know his killer, but his passenger does
SAN ANTONIO - A family is waiting for answers after their loved one was shot and killed.
Jesus Garcia died Wednesday morning after being chased in his car by someone he didn't know.
The driver pulled up beside his on Castroville road and fired several shots at the car striking Garcia and his two passengers.
"My brother was such a happy soul," his sister Graciela Garcia said. "He was always there for everybody he was the life of the party."
Jesus Garcia, according to family members, was at the wrong place, at the wrong time.
He was apparently caught up in the middle of an argument between his friend and someone he didn't know.
Things escalated around on Castroville Road when Jesus picked up his friend to give him a ride.
"They followed my brother and they chased them with the gun and they shot the car down," Garia said.
Jesus and his two passengers were hit. The passengers were taken to the hospital. Jesus died at the scene.
"He had a big heart," she said. "He had a heart of gold."
Family members are now clinging to memories of happier times with Jesus; the 22-year old who was a kid at heart.
"He was always cracking jokes he was the funniest family member," Garcia said. "He was always the first one dancing at parties, family events. He loved playing basketball, that was his, he loved it."
His Graciela Garcia says the other two shooting victims are still in the hospital, and are expected to be okay.
She says her family won't be the same without Jesus.
"I hope they find who did this to him he didn't deserve it," Garcia said.
San Antonio Police are investigating.
Family members hope detectives are able to learn more about the shooter once the victim who knows him recovers from surgery.
