SAN ANTONIO - A man is behind bars accused of cashing a stolen check.

Police say the victim had his checks stolen out of the mailbox.

An arrest affidavit said the victim found his checks were stolen when he received a Facebook message about the crime.

Police arrested Heath Jason Morris. The report says there is video of the hot check being cashed at a local bank for more than $1,000. It was disguised as a check for handyman work done on a home.

After the check was cashed, the report says Morris paid another suspect $100 for helping him cash the check.

One of the victims confirmed it was not her signature on the check.

Morris remains behind bars on an unrelated theft of a firearm charge. He also faces forgery charges. His bond was set at $4,000.
