Woman's ex-boyfriend confronts her new friend with machete, sends both to hospital

SAN ANTONIO - A woman's ex-boyfriend and her new friend are in the hospital after the two attacked each other with a machete.

The incident happened around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday at the woman's home off Pitluk Avenue near New Laredo Highway on the South Side.

Police said it all started after the ex-boyfriend showed up at the woman's house and noticed she had a visitor. That's when the fight broke out. The ex-boyfriend pulled out a machete and started to attack the other man inside the home, cutting him several times. Police said at some point, the other man wrestled the machete away from the ex-boyfriend and hit him several times with the bladed object.

Police found the suspect in the driveway with the machete and bleeding from his head.

The visitor was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, while the ex-boyfriend is in serious condition.

The woman was not injured, but was detained for questioning.
