Late-night accidental gunfire leaves two wounded: Teen's mishap triggers scare

SAN ANTONIO -Two people were injured after an accidental misfire of a gun happened on the inner West Side.

A late-night shooting incident occurred Thursday night near the 4900 block of Pettus Street around 11:55 p.m.

Police share that two individuals showed up at Methodist Hospital with gunshot wounds.

A 22-year-old man reported to authorities that a 17-year-old man was handling a firearm when an unintentional discharge happened and struck the teen in the hand. The round also hit the other man in an adjacent room.

Authorities share that both of the victims chose to take themselves to the hospital and are both in stable condition.

Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) teams processed both hospital scenes and the location of the shooting and recovered two firearms in the process.

Authorities emphasize that the incident was not an active shooting at the time of the dispatch.
