SAN ANTONIO - For those IKEA superfans who just can't get enough of the brand's low-priced home furnishings, we've learned new info about when the retailer will open its much-anticipated Live Oak store.

According to an IKEA press release, the contractors who will build the store at I-35 and Loop 1604 on the Northeast Side have been hired and a groundbreaking is set for early 2018. A store opening is set for summer 2019.

“With contractors on board, plans can proceed towards opening the future IKEA Live Oak store,” said Lars Petersson, IKEA U.S. president. “This San Antonio-area store will provide a more convenient IKEA shopping experience for current and potential customers throughout South Texas who may live too far from IKEA Houston and IKEA Round Rock.”

The Live Oak store will have the same iconic look and footprint as other IKEA stores. Store leaders said you can expect about 290,000 square feet of furniture and home furnishings, complete with at least 50 room settings and a 325-seat cafeteria that will serve Swedish and American cuisine.

IKEA Live Oak will bring more than 500 jobs to the area.
