Help name these cute mountain lion cubs
NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas - Two bouncing baby mountain lions are making their debut at Animal World & Snake Farm Zoo. The two female cubs were born on April 1st to happy, healthy parents.
They do not yet have names, and the park would like your help.
“The cubs have a handful of affectionate nicknames, but we haven’t settled on any permanent names yet,” said Hannah Mulligan from the Snake Farm. “We are holding a naming contest for the cubs on our official Facebook page so the community can join in on the fun.”
The cubs are not yet on exhibit, but you can stop by baby animal nursery daily at 10:30am and 1:00pm for an interactive showing.
Mountain lions are an integral part of Western ecosystems and once claimed the largest geographic distribution of any mammal in the Western hemisphere, with the exception of humans. However, this cat species now occupies a fraction of that historic range due to habitat loss and overhunting. Though the North American mountain lion, a native Texas species, is not yet listed as an endangered animal, protection and conservation is vital.
