Back on Sept. 30, 2018, Nicholas "Trey" Milanovich, 23, and Julia Wright, 21, were shot to death in the apartment they shared. Milanovich was shot in his sleep and died later at the hospital. Wright was shot as she slept, regained consciousness, and died of blood loss as she attempted to escape the apartment to get help.

Police received a tip from a source that led to finding suspect, Avelar-Rodriguez. Evidence found tied him directly to the murder and once he was arrested, he confessed to the murders.
