New surge of migrants in Eagle Pass raises safety and security concerns

EAGLE PASS, Texas - Authorities near Eagle Pass are dealing with a new surge of migrants.

Many of them are crossing the border in the overnight hours. It comes as large groups of migrants have been traveling through Panama. Perhaps as many as 5,000 a day.

Texas State Representative Eddie Morales says the migrants made the trek by hopping on trains. He tells us the next steps his district needs to accomplish.

“It’s obviously a security issue, we have concerns over their safety and we need to address this in the most - expeditious manner," Morales says.
