Standoff suspect surrenders to deputies after shooting at tactical robot
SAN ANTONIO —
A man who barricaded himself inside a West Side mobile home surrendered peacefully to deputies after a nearly 5-hour standoff.
According to the Bexar County Sheriff's Office, the situation unfolded when a woman called 911 at about 6 a.m. from the Camino Creek Mobile Home Park near Highway 90 and Kriewald Road. She claimed she was assaulted.
When deputies arrived, they found the woman was out of the home, but the 28-year-old suspect remained inside with a long gun.
He reportedly fired a gunshot at the deputies and a SWAT unit was called in to negotiate with the man.
Sheriff Javier Salazar said the suspect also fired a shot at a tactical robot that was sent into the home to assess the situation.
After nearly five hours, the suspect surrendered and was taken into custody. It was unclear what charges he would face.
