Custody hearing set for pythons, snakes confiscated in massive animal seizure
SAN ANTONIO —
A custody hearing is set for more than 500 snakes and rodents that were seized from an East Side home more than a week ago.
More than 130 pythons and about a half-dozen other large snakes were removed from the house on Kayton Avenue following a tip on the city's 311 line. There were also hundreds of rodents used to feed the snakes. One of the seized pythons measured about 18-feet long.
The case is expected to be heard in court on Friday morning.
At the time of the seizure, Animal Care Services said many of the reptiles needed medical attention.
Animal cruelty charges are pending in the case.
