SAN ANTONIO -- A local non-profit invited the community to come out and "Light It Up Blue" in honor of World Autism Awareness Day.

Any Baby Can hosted the celebration and resource fair on Wurzbach over near Ingram Road. Familes showed up with signs showing their support for children with the spectrum disorder. They then took pictures to share on social media with the hashtags "LIUB" and "AutismDaySA."

Organizers say the celebration is a way to teach others about the behavorial issues that come with autism -- and to encourage non-judgement.

"Just to have that understanding," explained Lizel Sandoval of Any Baby Can. "It really helps families to want to go out to the store, so they don't have to deal with people looking at them and saying, 'Why is your child acting like that?' Just understanding."

Any Baby Can" also took registrations for its 12th annual "Walk for Autism." It's set for April 16th at the Helotes Cornyval grounds.
