Border patrol rescues undocumented immigrants from Rio Grande
Border Patrol agents rescued several undocumented immigrants Friday from the Rio Grande while they were trying to illegally enter the country.
A citizen notified agents that a person was stranded in the middle of the Rio Grande underneath the Juarez-Lincoln International Bridge. Agents found a man standing a pillar and rescued him by boat. The person was 16 years old and a Honduran national.
Two days later Border patrol agents found 11 people trying to illegally enter the country. Officials detained two, but the rest of the group jumped into the Chacon Creek. One of the people needed to be rescued from the creek and cried out for help. She was rescued and seven other undocumented immigrants were apprehended. Three of the people swam back to Mexico.
