Border Patrol agent wounded by shot fired from Mexican riverbank
BROWNSVILLE, Texas - A Border Patrol agent suffered a grazing wound to the back of the head Tuesday near Brownsville, according to a statement from Marcelino A. Medina, a spokesman for U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
The shot originated from the Mexican side of the riverbank.
The Border Patrol agent — who was not identified — was assigned to the Riverine Unit when he sustained the injury from a small caliber weapon, according to the statement.
The agent has been medically evaluated and released with a non-life threatening injury.
The incident remains under investigation.
