SAN ANTONIO - Another Bexar County Sheriff's Office deputy has been arrested, this one for theft.
Joseph Anthony Becerra was arrested on theft charges. The 32-year-old is accused of trying to steal a vacuum cleaner from a Target on Monday night.
He was caught on surveillance video trying to walk out of the store with a Dyson, but instead, Balcones Heights Police were called and arrested him.
Becerra has been on the department for less than two years. On Tuesday morning, he was in the process of being released from jail after seeing a judge overnight.
Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar made his way to the Magistrate's Office where the deputy was being booked, presumably to fire him. Instead, the deputy tendered his resignation.
His next court date is in November.
