SAN ANTONIO -- A Bexar County Sheriff's deputy has been arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated.
A news release states Deputy Yesenia Rios was arrested by San Antonio Police Department officers around 2:30 a.m. Saturday at South Alamo and East Cesar-Chavez Boulevard.
The sheriff's office said Deputy Rios has been employed with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office since April of 2016 and is currently assigned to the Detention Division.
The news release states Deputy Rios will be placed on administrative leave pending further criminal investigation of the case by the police department. Bexar County Sheriff’s Office Internal Affairs will also be conducting an administrative investigation of the arrest.
“Every effort is being made to address this ongoing issue and to prevent DWI incidents within our ranks" Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said. "Proactively, even as recently as this week, we continue to reinforce messaging to remind employees about the dangers of DWI and the steps they can personally take to avoid becoming part of the problem. Clearly, this employee did not heed those warnings, and will be held accountable accordingly”.
