SAN ANTONIO - A local woman's DWI charges have been dropped just two months after she was pulled over.

Catherine Amato, whose husband is the chairman and co-founder of SWBC and a Spurs shareholder, was pulled over in February.

With an average of 500 DWI arrests per month, we asked the county clerk if two months is unusually fast for a case to be heard.

"It takes about a year to work your way through the system with that type of volume," said Bexar County Clerk Gerry Rickhoff. "Is it unusual for something to move at that speed? Of course it is. Are these rogue events unknown to us? No, they're not. They're not infrequent either."

We also contacted Bexar County District Attorney Nico LaHood, who sent a statement saying his office is conducting an internal review of the handling of this case and will take corrective action based on the findings.

In the meantime, Amato is trying to get any record of the case expunged. The hearing is next month.
